About the Author(s)
Manying Ip is Associate Professor of Chinese at the University of Auckland, She is a highly respected public advocate for the Chinese communities and in recognition of this was awarded the Suffrage Centennial Medal in 1993 and the ONZM in 1996. Her many papers, chapters and books include two works on Chinese New Zealanders which have won much critical acclaim: "Home Away From Home: Life Stories of Chinese Women in New Zealand" (1990) and (Dragons on the Long White Cloud" (1996).
